03 / COMMUNITY GATHERING PLACE

The Yard.

In summer 2019, a vacant utility lot in South Minneapolis became The Yard: mobile saunas, open air, and a place for neighbors to gather.

Shared heat brought people back. The gathering place grew through the seasons, becoming the starting point for the Sauna Village that followed.

04 / FESTIVAL PROGRAMMING

Great Northern
Sauna Village.

Role: John Pederson, co-creator of Great Northern Sauna Village.

Our Sauna Village work began in South Minneapolis, helping launch the mobile sauna movement and bringing thousands of guests together through heat, cold, and rest. We created a place to gather in the heart of winter, turning the season into a reason to come outside.

The Great Northern invited us to bring that experience to its winter festival. The Sauna Village became a gathering place within the festival: a living winter gathering place shaped by thoughtful hosting, a shared bathing practice, and the community that formed around it.

05 / DESIGN-BUILD

The Surly Sauna.

Role: Design and build.

A mobile sauna built for the owner of Surly Brewing, for use at his cabin. A changing room with cubbies and hooks leads to a hot room with tiered benches. The layout brings arrival, bathing and daily care into one compact space.

SONORA HAUS / ARIZONA

06 / DESIGN-BUILD

Sonora Haus.

Role: Thermic bathing space design, with Holler & Saunders.

A desert bathhouse in Arizona. The hot room looks out over the Sonoran landscape, with a plunge basin and shaded courtyard for cooling and rest between rounds.

YOUR PROJECT

Build your property
around it.

Every project here started with the same question: what if the bathing experience was the reason to come, not an add-on? Let's talk about yours.
